On October 10th, and as part of a wider program to stimulate entrepreneurship and innovation in Belize around topics related to social issues, an event entitled: “Change dah Story – Ideas for Change” was held in Belize City.
The Change dah Story-Ideas for Change project will utilize a social innovation lab methodology to support the development of innovative business ideas around the challenges faced by vulnerable youth in Belize, including crime. Winning teams will receive technical assistance valued at BZD$10,000 to turn their ideas into workable business models. The launch event was held on October 10th, 2019, from 1:30 to 5:30 pm at the Best Western Biltmore Hotel in Belize City, engaging participants in an interactive ideathon session to form teams, analyse specific issues affecting vulnerable youth in Belize, brainstorm (ideate) possible solutions, work with mentors to boost the viability and sustainability of these solutions, pitch these solutions to a panel for feedback, and have the opportunity to upload their initial applications to the Social Innovation Lab’s Change dah Story – Ideas for Change platform.
Following the launch, the call for proposals on the platform will remain open until December 1st, 2019, after which the winning teams will be selected and supported.
